Sail Into Summer With Herschel Supply Trade Luggage
Since 2013, when we reviewed our first Herschel Supply Co. bag, the company has taken over the market. You can now find their signature Little America bag all over New York City streets. From bike messengers to school children, these bags are now basically ubiquitous since they manage to be both trendy and nostalgic.
Founded in 2009 with the goal of bringing well-designed quality dry goods to their customers, Herschel has quickly become a modern classic. Taking their inspiration from American heritage, world travel and fashion, Herschel Supply Co. mixes vintage, outdoorsy canvas mountaineering style with modern-day electronics-friendly compartments to create quality backpacks, bags and travel goods. Their backpacks now come in a wide variety of different shapes and designs, all featuring an eye-catching design.
The newest addition to their durable line is the Trade Luggage collection. Offering a high level of durability, these four-wheeled hard shell bags are a must have for the frequent air traveler. Both the small and large versions meet carry-on requirements at under 25 inches. Featuring a split design like most modern rolled luggage, there is a nifty external zipper that boasts real letter pulls. And the retractable top handle is elegant and not at all wobbly; you really are in control with this bag.
The multi-directional spinner wheels are great for rolling through city streets on the way to hostels and hotels. They also don’t do that pesky rolling away that other bags tend to, keeping your bag beside you when you let go of the handle. The interior mesh organizer is both functional and stylish, allowing you to keep your what-nots and doo-dads right where you want them for the duration of your journey. The signature striped fabric liner is classy too- and matches the interior that Herschel uses in its backpacks!
The pebbled leather diamond pattern was attractive but we found that it scuffed a bit too easily. After a couple of trips between buses, cabs, and planes, the bag was striped on the sides from bumping through the aisle. But even drops didn’t leave a dent, and the wheels held up well to stairs and some mileage. The smaller Trade Luggage from Herschel is available for around $259.99 online and in stores.
